Every so often, we encounter a truly life-changing project. One with the potential to impact the lives of millions, if not billions. A project that could catalyse an energy revolution in Africa and bridge the energy divide between the continent, and the more well-heeded countries of the West.

Refining The Gridless Model

Strategy Design

In early August 2024, the crypto innovators at Gridless Compute approached us with an opportunity unlike any we had encountered before. Through their sister company, Gridless Energy, they were developing a Bitcoin-backed financial model poised to drive growth in Africa's energy sector at an unprecedented scale.

Our initial task was to refine and simplify the Gridless financial model. Originally, the model was intricate, with numerous moving parts that were challenging to manage. At its core, the model represents a trinity of the energy, cryptocurrency, and financial sectors - blending elements from each to establish a self-sustaining methodology for developing new energy generation sites across Africa profitably, using Bitcoin.

After several workshops with the team at Gridless, we crafted a story that simplifies the model and makes it clear and easy to understand - particularly for the Bitcoin enthusiast audience it’s intended for.

After distilling the model into a clear and simple narrative, we further simplified it with Sankey diagrams to visually convey the story behind the Gridless model at a glance.

Storytelling Impact

In conclusion, the clarity created by information design enabled Gridless to communicate their message effectively - bridging gaps with highly technical, siloed audiences and making a relatively complex concept easier to grasp.
